A  Message from the Chairman

Welcome! We are excited you’ve found us!

The Lean Flight Initiative is dedicated to implementing Lean Thinking in commercial and private aviation throughout the world. If you are in Europe, Africa, Asia, North or South America, Australia, or Antarctica…the LFI is the place to share ideas and knowledge to raise the level of awareness and expertise in Lean.

We are a truly international organization. We boast membership from most continents and are still growing and looking for new members – individual, corporate, government, and academic memberships are welcome.

We host an annual conference that is one of the best in its class and has received high marks for content and format. We also offer shared kaizen events from time to time providing a hands on opportunity to share ideas with many organizations. Soon we hope to offer training in Lean and in the meantime we can direct interested parties to such training in Lean, the Theory of Constraints, or Six Sigma.

While the LFI focuses heavily on Lean Thinking, we recognize and work to understand the linkages and value of other process improvement approaches such as the Theory of Constraints and Six Sigma. We believe that all of these approaches can help create operational excellence. Attaining operational excellence is actually our goal.

This organization was founded and is chartered in Ireland but it has been a truly international organization since its inception. The LFI is a non-profit organization and as such relies on memberships and conference proceeds for operational funding. As well, we actively solicit sponsorships from businesses and organizations to support our activities, like the annual conference.
